‘Best of Lone Star Legacy' is three Texas cookbooks in one
HIGHLAND VILLAGE, TX September 13, 2004 -- The best recipes from three bestselling cookbooks by the Austin Junior Forum are now available in one volume – a collector's edition, all-in-one Texas recipe sampler.
Lone Star Legacy, Lone Star Legacy II and Changing Thymes make up a series of community cookbooks designed to preserve authentic Texas recipes from real Texas cooks.
Dishes like Chocolate Cloud, No Peep Stew, Crunchy Pecan Chicken, Shrimp Con Queso Dip and Simply the Best Pork Tenderloin showcase the richness and versatility of Texas cuisine.
The first cookbook, Lone Star Legacy, was created in 1981 as a fundraiser for the restoration of an historic Austin mansion to be used for civic purposes. The cookbook eventually sold more than 200,000 copies and was named a regional winner in the Tabasco Community Cookbook contest. It continues to sell in its original form today.
Lone Star Legacy II, the 1985 follow-up to Lone Star Legacy, was a success in its own right, as readers began to recognize the Lone Star series as an excellent volume of family recipes.
Changing Thymes was created in 1995, almost 15 years after Lone Star Legacy, and was designed to reflect modern cooking styles. Changing Thymes emphasizes lighter recipes and balanced meals and includes nutritional information with every recipe. With dishes like Grilled Tuna Mediterranean Style and Chocolate Truffle Cake, the cookbook explores many of today's popular cooking styles like grilling and gourmet.
Best of Lone Star Legacy includes 500 classic and contemporary recipes that provide flavors and choices for every taste. The special collector's edition is available in hardcover for the retail price of $19.95.
Publisher Cookbook Resources is known for its commitment to classic regional cooking. The company, which got its start by publishing community cookbooks, now releases about 15 original titles per year. Its popular "Cooking by the Numbers" series contains 3, 4 and 5-ingredient recipes designed for busy cooks.
